Anfeh.com Fifth Annual Party - Hani's Speech

Note: Part 1 of the speech was delivered in Arabic, but it is herein translated to English. Part 2 was delivered in English.

Part 1:

Good evening and a salutation to our family, the people of Anfeh, who are with us this evening. A salutation to our friends from Amioun, Kfar-Hazeer, and the rest of Al-Koura towns. A salutation to our friends from Akkar, especially Tal-Ebbas, Mount Lebanon, Beirut, and Bekaa. And last but not least a salutation to our friends from the South of Lebanon.

A salutation to all of you, wherever you come from.

Every year, you all overcome the obstacles of distance, difference in opinions, ..., all obstacles, and join us in doing good because you are good people.

Part 2:

Fr. Timothy, Fr. Jean,

President and members of the parish council,

Family and Friends,

Thank you for joining us this evening. Thanks to the great friends who helped organize this event. We are very grateful to each and everyone of you. I don't have much to add to what Fr. Timothy and Elsie said, but I like to share with you a very simple story I learned in elementary school:

An wise man once called upon his three sons, presented to them a bundle of branches, and asked them to break it. The youngest son took the bundle and tried to break it, but he failed. The middle son who was stronger took the bundle and failed to break it too. The oldest who was the strongest took the bundle; he tried and tried and tried to break it, but he also failed. The father shook his head and asked for the bundle back. He untied it and divided its branches among his sons. They started breaking them one by one.

It is that simple: If we stick together, nothing and nobody can ever break us!
