Nhayreh Fishing Port

Nhayreh Fishing Port.

Nhayreh Fishing Port is a natural harbor, where boats have long sought shelter in bad weather conditions. The port is now equipped with quays and supplied with electricity. Nour-El-Houda, Abou Shahid's boat, leaving the port for a nice fishing day.

The port is protected and monitored by a group of Lebanese-army soldiers. When leaving the port in a boat, the fisherman should give the name of the boat and the number (and names) of people on board to the soldiers. The boat name will be checked as "arrived" when the boat arrives back to the port with the same people who left on board. This way  avoids having people illegally enter Lebanon through its coast from other countries.

With some 100 fishing boats currently pulling in, the harbor has become too narrow. In order to accommodate more boats, it would be desirable to increase the size of the harbor and make plans for additional facilities.

Being surrounded by Las Salinas and Marina Del Sol, it seems impossible to increase the side of the harbor. Should the fishing seaport of Anfeh move to another place in Anfeh where the fisherman can have more space and more independence in controlling their own "fishing kingdom"?

And at the end, we sing with Marcel Khalifeh: Ya Ba7riyyeh! Hela! Hela!... It is: O Fishermen! Hela! Hela!...

The port gate to the big sea.

Las Salinas!
